Quantum technologies promise breakthroughs in medicine, business, and security. However, our current control over quantum systems is woefully lacking. In the SQRL, we’re engineering the next generation of quantum technologies and building architectures to control and measure the millions of qubits necessary for a useful quantum technology.
Our favorite qubits are trapped ions which are exceptional quantum memories. We control their electronic and motional quantum states fully with lasers. We are working to:
- Increase control over 10s of ions trapped within the same potential.
- Improve physical and optical links between ions separated by millimeters, centimeters, or meters.
- Build fully integrated architectures which will support control and readout of millions of qubits.
